Old glory, old glory, your beautiful hues, You historically command respect from the smartest academic to the most devout pews.
Your grace is continually tested as a commodity we hope you can afford. Just think back to the pandemic news which many ignored, yet now we worry we will be in the ward of leaders who hoard & weaponize systemic injustice like a sword.
A nation divided, a government lost, what you provide in your wave and call is resilience as you reach out and throw us a cord
We must remember your gift was given in brilliance but not without sacrifice and at times at great cost we now worry little is stored.
You reside now in realms of ideology tossed, the story of your glory was tainted in the hearts of some leaders like orchards in a great frost and a heart that darkens as a bruise.
They withdraw their love and responsibility; they show in their heart of hearts they flatly refuse.
What you teach us though is what we promote and believe is something we must choose; Our duty as Americans is we must stop injustice as it is never an action that we should allow to excuse.
